George King Gallery and Classroom

This is named for the our founder, George King. His portrait may be seen therein.
It is used for both classes and exhibits. This King Gallery was an addition, in
1982, to
the original American Legion Building .

Bob Gray Gallery and Classroom

This Gray Gallery is the original American Legion Hall, Post 128. It is now
used as a multipurpose room for exhibits, classes, receptions and special
events.

Both
our
King and Gray
Galleries
host shows
during the course of the year. Some
of these are for students and members only - others are “open” shows. We serve the needs of emerging and professional artisans through
these shows, our classes, plus each year's "Beauty
and the Beach," - our outdoor Art and Craft Shows. Also, nationally known fine artists conduct workshops for the benefit of our
emerging artists.
The Beach
Art
Center
holds Gallery Shows throughout the year.
We have also shown the works
of private individuals, the
Tampa Bay Surface Design Guild, Studio Friday, Professional Association of
Visual Artists, Council
of Fine Arts Organizations, Florida Artists Guild, plus the Suncoast Watercolor
Society.
We currently have three open shows a year, October, February, and April. October is our “Bob
Gray” Show, so named after a major benefactor.
February is our juried Watercolor Show.
Many fine pieces of work, from throughout Florida, are shown.
April presents our “Beauty and Beach” all-media Show.
We
generally have two Member’s Shows each year plus one Student Show. Both 2-D and 3-D
work are accepted. The Gallery Shows are opened with a reception,
followed by an awards
presentation.
The
Beach Art Center hold fundraising projects each year.
Funds go to benefit the art center
such that we can continue to present
both adult and children’s programs which serve the total community.
