Individual studies in acrylics. Class includes projects and assistance

Very social and fun individual studies in acrylics and oil for the painter with
an idea . Class includes class projects and assistance with individual projects,
critique and demonstrations, reference materials and materials available.
TUESDAY
Intermediate Experimental Watermedia Charlotte DiGennaro,
Tuesday, 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.Through April
This class emphasizes composition and encourages students to find their own
unique expressions. Learn to mix and match mediums.
Open Acrylic and Oil Painting, Robin Borland, Tuesday, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
From the creatively challenged to the Master of their craft, this class is
open to all that are interested in painting with acrylics and oils. Beginners
will learn the fundamentals of
using acrylics and oils, intermediates will work on their existing skills and be
encouraged to take on greater challenges in painting and advanced students will
focus on perfecting their style and quality of work. Bring in your own subject
to work on or use the still life created for you by the instructor. Each student
is responsible for his or her own supplies although a list for beginners can be
supplied by the instructor upon request.
Portrait Painting from Life Joe Steiner, Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. to Noon
Ongoing through April, Oil and Acrylic
“When I paint, I get my visual information from observation and allow my
subconscious feelings to merge with my visual impressions on the canvas. I am
interested in the figure and the background, how they relate to each other, and
their relationship to the composition as a whole. I talk to the people I paint,
and this helps me to connect with my feelings about them.”
WEDNESDAY
Open Painting Julie Messerschmidt Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. to Noon
This class is designed for those students who have a working knowledge of
basic techniques and materials in their media of choice: watercolor, oil,
acrylic or charcoal. The focus will be on refining and enhancing skills, and
enabling students to bring their work to the next level.
Painting fundamentals including composition and design, color mixing, value and
drawing will be addressed as the instructor works with each student individually
and encourages them to develop and define their own unique style. Students work
from their own reference material.
Jewelry Fabrication Debra Peisner, Wednesday, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Tools and Materials Fee of $30 Payable to instructor.
Learn jewelry fabrication basics including Wire Wrapping, Chain Making,
Texturing, Stamping and Sawing. You will learn to use the jeweler’s hammer,
saws and punches to make your own unique jewelry pieces.
Intermediate and Advanced Oil Painting Team Teachers Larry and
Judy Pumfrey, Wednesday, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Through April
Larry’s forte is landscapes while Judy’s is portraiture. Students
receive individual instruction and assistance, and learn to develop their own
unique expression. Class consists of a teaching and lecture session,
painting time and critique of work.
Introduction to Screenprinting Cards and Small Prints, Debbie Slowey
Wednesday, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
This beginning course introduces students to the magic of silk screen
printing. Students will create Fine Art Greeting Cards using non-toxic
screen printing techniques. The class will start with preparing the screen
and exploring ideas with sketches, and proceed through ‘block out’ of the
screen and printing.
Reverse Glass Painting, Carolyn Dischinger, Wednesday, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Six Week Sequential Class
Learn the basics of the ancient art of reverse glass painting. The
first reverse paintings date back to the 13th Century soon after hand blown
glass began to be made in Venice. In the 18th Century, reverse glass
religious subjects became popular in Central and Eastern Europe .
Experimentation continues to the present day. Utilizing a crow quill pen,
india ink and oil paint, you can create your own reverse glass paintings.
Course will cover drawing and design, and the process of ink and paint in
reverse order.
THURSDAY
Colored Pencil for Everyone, Melissa Miller Nece, Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to
12:30 p.m. Four-Week Session, April 22 through May 13
Neat, portable and inexpensive, colored pencils can be used for any style
work, from rough sketches to finely detailed realism. Students experiment with
color and techniques for a full range of special effects. Emphasis on developing
an individual style through personal guidance from instructor and class
discussion. For all levels, but some background in drawing strongly suggested.
Beginning to Advanced Watercolor, Dan Grimsich, Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to Noon,
Ongoing through April
For beginning to advanced students. Paint your favorite landscape or
seascapes from photographs or sketches. Dan works individually with each student
on their personal projects.
Sumi-e or Suiboku, Hiroko Borish, Thursday, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., Ongoing
through June
Learn the traditional Japanese Sumi-e or Suiboku method
of using black ink, and watercolor with Hiroko Borish and all techniques of
oriental brush painting. Although familiar with both western and oriental
techniques, Hiroko’s beautiful paintings primarily reflect her oriental
background.
Beginning Drawing, Joe Weinzettle, Thursday, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.Ongoing
Learn many styles and techniques of shapes, shading and sketching from still
life in this fundamentals class. Weinzettle advocates direct observation,
believing that working from nature and encountering changing light situations
are rewarding experiences, more so than working from photographs or printed
sources.
FRIDAY
Open Painting Studio, Friday, 9:00 a.m. to Noon - No Instruction
Just an opportunity to create art together, share ideas and inspire your
inner artist. $5 non-members, $3 members
Individual Drawing, Doug Land, Friday, 9:30 a.m. to noon, Ongoing to May
This class is for beginning to intermediate artists, as well as working artists
that wish to review drawing techniques. The class sessions will progress from
initial basic exercises to more creative techniques and exploration of
materials. There will be an emphasis on learning to draw accurately and
realistically.
“Make It Take It Friday” One Day Drawing Class, Doug Land, Friday,
1:00 to 4:00 p.m. - $35, Call for Weekly Availability
This is for all of you who think you can’t draw. Take a one day risk with
artist Doug Land and discover the joys of drawing and your own inner artist.
Through basic still life exercises, you will create a drawing you can take home
and be proud to show. All materials are provided. Just bring an open mind and
enjoy an afternoon of personal discovery.
“Make It Take It Friday” One Day Watercolor Painting Class, Mary
Spires
Friday, 9:00 a.m. to noon - $35, Call for Availability
Have you ever wanted to try watercolor but heard it was too hard? Take a one
day risk with artist Mary Spires and discover the joys of painting in this
gorgeous medium. Through a prepared drawing and demonstration, you will create a
flower painting you can take home and be proud to show.
All materials are provided. Just bring an open mind and enjoy an afternoon of
personal discovery.

Instruction on how to work on the wheel as well as hand building using
slabs and the extruder.
MONDAY
Throwing and Hand-Building, Nancy Phelps, Monday, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
This class is for anyone who wants to learn the basics of wheel throwing,
hand building thrown forms as well as techniques for decorating.
